IdeasWood Cabins
Ideaswood solid timber cabins are the smallest wood cabin kits in our range.
They are under 20 sq m and are usually an open plan/studio building designed for additional space to meet your needs. Some of the larger ones come with internal walls for an Ensuite (WC) or storeroom. They are ideal for your backyard to provide that much-needed extra space whether it’s a gaming room for the kids, a shed-shed / craft room or just somewhere to chill for some of the family members.
Some IdeasWood wood cabins have windows and most have at least half-glass doors to let the natural light in.
The wall thickness is 28mm or 44mm. All kits come in unfinished solid timber, Our clients choose to their preferred paint or clear finish to protect and personalise them.
In some council areas, these smaller cabins can be constructed without council approval.
We can help you with reliable information about what is needed to have a compliant backyard cabin on your property. Don’t be caught with cheap non-compliant buildings that the council may make you pull down and/or that need to have a shed erected over them to keep the rain out!
We have kits available NOW so that you can build your own wood cabin like the one featured to the top left. (It is an Alva.) It was constructed in the morning by two men ready for its subfloor.
Granny Flats
IdeasWood Granny Flats are larger than our wooden cabin kit range. They are usually over 30 sq m but less than 60 sq m (internal floor area).
IdeasWood Granny Flats usually have at least 1 bedroom & bathroom/toilet/ensuite. They do not have a laundry or space for a full kitchen. Walls are usually 44mm or 68mm to reduce heating and cooling costs and to provide extra strength and durability.
IdeasWood Granny Flats are designed to be an ancillary building connected to a main residence (house) power and sewerage/septic system. Home Office / Garden House
IdeasWood offers a Premium Home Office / Garden House range that will enhance your backyard and elevate your property value.
IdeasWood Garden House/ Home Offices are under 20 sq m* internal area. This means that they can be constructed without council approval in some areas. The superior insulation properties of the 44mm walls and double glazed Tilt & Turn windows provide all important energy savings.
These buildings are light and airy. IdeasWood Premium Home Offices are designed to be connected to the main residence power and sewerage/septic systems (if desired) making them an ideal extra space to enhance your lifestyle.
